One Water Summit

One Water Summit

The One Water Summit placed the issue of water at the top of the international agenda, with a particular focus on regions under severe stress: rapid population growth, climatic vulnerability, water shortages or poor water quality.

Faced with these challenges, it is becoming urgent to adopt an integrated approach to water management, based on three pillars:

  • Inter-state cooperation and multilateral governance
  • Financing global water policies: drinking water, sanitation, irrigation, industry, energy, ecosystems
  • Raising awareness and educating leaders, private players and citizens about the importance of water

The One Water Summit has been designed as an incubator for concrete solutions, particularly with a view to the next United Nations Water Conference in 2026. It is a reminder that water is essential to all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and that a strong political commitment is needed to move away from fragmented approaches.

This is the background to One Water Vision, a scientific initiative designed to support this political momentum with concrete tools, in particular through the use of satellite data to improve water management worldwide.
