Eyes in the sky: Earth Observation and remote sensing for early warning and emergency response

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has launched a new webinar series titled "Eyes On The Storm", designed to connect professionals with a worldwide community of experts, decision-makers, and practitioners.
This initiative aims to raise awareness, encourage knowledge exchange, and provide practical insights to improve early warning systems across multiple sectors, regions, and types of hazards.

Each session features:

  • Presentations from leading voices in the field,
  • Interactive Q&A with participants,
  • Practical discussions focused on real-world challenges and innovations.

As one of our partners within the One Water Vision network, IWMI contributes to advancing operational solutions for water resilience. We’re pleased to share this initiative as part of our effort to highlight the work and expertise of our collaborators.

Eyes On The Storm 11 – Eyes in the sky: Earth Observation and remote sensing for early warning and emergency response
This session will highlight how satellite observation and remote sensing technologies are transforming the way we anticipate and respond to water-related hazards.

You’ll learn about:

  • Advances in real-time monitoring,
  • Hazard mapping techniques,
  • Rapid impact assessments that support faster decision-making in crises.

These innovations are helping to close critical data gaps, making early warning systems more effective and inclusive, especially in vulnerable regions.
