One Water Vision’s participation in the PEPR OneWater Days

One Water Vision took part in the PEPR OneWater Days, held from August 26 to 28, 2025.
Funded under France 2030, this program is a major scientific initiative to structure French research on water, addressing climate, social, and environmental challenges.

A workshop dedicated to satellite tools (August 27)
As part of these days, One Water Vision, in partnership with CNES and with the expertise of Delphine Leroux, organized a workshop on August 27 focused on the potential of Earth observation satellites for monitoring the water cycle.
Discussions covered both mainland France and the overseas territories, where in-situ data remain limited and satellites provide unique added value.

Key takeaways from the workshop:

  • Strong interest in the use of satellites for groundwater and lakes.
  • Discussions around the SWOT mission (applications to small rivers, raw data for research) and the TRISHNA mission (evapotranspiration monitoring).
  • Shared need for co-construction between researchers, operational stakeholders, and end-users.
  • Recognition of the Overseas territories as priority areas for satellite-based solutions.
  • Importance of FAIR and interoperable data.

Building collective dynamics
Beyond the workshop, One Water Vision’s participation strengthened its ties with the French scientific and operational water community, as well as with institutional and industrial stakeholders interested in space-based approaches.

Next steps
One Water Vision will continue to emphasize the value of satellite tools:

  • At the national level, as a French science driven by CNES.
  • As complementary assets supporting projects already embedded in PEPR.
  • And as enablers to address new and emerging challenges.

These perspectives contribute to a broader ambition: fostering the French, European, and international integration of space-based solutions for water.
