World Basin Summit 2026

INBO, partner of the One Water Vision initiative and a key actor in sharing experiences and good practices in basin management, will host the 2026 World Basin Summit in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development of Rio de Janeiro (SEAS), under a formal agreement.

Objective: to make this event a privileged space for dialogue and cooperation among all actors involved in basin management, while reinforcing its political and operational impact.

Main theme: Cooperative Basin Governance for Water Security

Program highlights:

• Participatory workshops to share experiences and best practices
• Data into action: modernizing water resources monitoring for resilient basin management
• City-basin dialogue for water security: balancing urban and rural development
• Healthy waters, resilient basins: harmonizing water and biodiversity policies
• Climate change adaptation: tackling floods and droughts at the basin level
• Circular water economy: diversifying the water mix with unconventional resources

This summit offers an excellent opportunity for international actors, decision-makers, scientists, and practitioners to exchange on innovative solutions for sustainable and resilient basin management.
